Outside Waters — West Coast Vancouver Island

The rugged outside.

Multi-day west coast packages for the mighty halibut, ling cod, rockfish and aggressive migrating salmon.

01 The Trip

West Coast Multi-Species

Our West Coast Vancouver Island — or "outside" — trips run as multi-day packages and provide full access to everything BC saltwater fishing has to offer. The mighty Pacific halibut, ling cod and rockfish are the main bottom fish targeted, while Chinook and Coho are the main salmon species. Most often, both salmon and bottom species can be targeted on the same day.

This area offers seasonal fishing through the summer months, June through September. Migrating salmon move through the rugged, rocky shorelines in waves, feeding aggressively on their way to their natal streams — found in shallow water from 30 to 100 ft, which makes for the most exciting fights. Offshore, salmon hold from 100 to 300 ft, where accidental catches of halibut and other bottom fish are common.

3 and 4-day packages are offered with the goal of providing limits of the target species. West coast waters are rugged and much rougher than the inside — large swells and wind waves are a daily occurrence, and seasickness is common for beginners, so come prepared. For this reason we do not recommend these trips for families with young children, the elderly, or those susceptible to motion sickness.
